We have a design for ELECTRIC ARC (arc flash) in a medium voltage disconnector
- To maximize operator safety, G&W has created a special design where the electrical disconnector tank can contain an internal electric arc fault of 25kA for 0.25 seconds in SF6 according to IEC62271-200 High-voltage switchgear and controlgear – Part 200: AC metal-enclosed switchgear and controlgear for rated voltages above 1 kV and up to and including 52 kV.
- The tank is capable of withstanding a maximum pressure of 170 psi without rupturing. This ability to contain this pressure surge makes this tank ideal for pedestal or vault applications where venting is not required.
- These switches are tested according to IEEE standards C37.72, C37.74, C37.60 and IEC265 applying to the TNI and GNI disconnector models.
- The G&W Electric TNI is a two-pronged disconnector with the operating mechanism on one side and the connection bushings on the other. 630 A on the source-side and main busbar paths. 630 A continuous on the protected load-side paths.
- The G&W Electric GNI is a single-sided disconnector with the operating mechanism and connection bushings on one side. 630 A or 900 A on the source-side and main busbar paths. 630 A continuous on the protected load-side paths.
